About Us
Bluebird Technology is home to Bird Journal. Bird Journal was developed in Staffordshire by myself (Justin Caldicott) and Christine Cheung.
Christine and I both graduated from Staffordshire University in 2003 with First Class Hons Degrees in Management & Business Computing and Computing Science. We have a passion for software development and have over 20 year's of experience.
In 2000 I created a much simpler bird recording software (called Birdbase, and of no relation to our competitor), for a family member. It is from this base, and with his guidance that Bird Journal has grown.
After extensive market research, we felt that there was a gap in the birding software market. While there are a number of products to choose from, we felt that none of them were focussed on enjoyment. If you're going to record lots of sightings, you want to enjoy looking back at them.
Bird Journal was created to fill this gap. The most enjoyable personal bird recording software on Windows computers.
We now work on Bird Journal full time, and have many exciting features we would like to include for future versions.
Our time is dedicated to improving the software and ensuring it meets the needs of bird watchers around the world.
We hope you enjoy using Bird Journal as much as we enjoy working on it.
"A special thank you to all the people who completed our online questionnaire. It gave us invaluable feedback during the development process and has helped shape Bird Journal into the product it is today."
